DISH holds 3 days Workshop on “Industrial Chem Safety”

Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Maharashtra & Late Narayan Meghaji Lokhande Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies, Mumbai jointly organised three days Workshop on “Industrial Chem Safety” for Nagpur and Akola regions from December 5 to 7 at VIA Auditorium, Nagpur.

The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Ashit Sinha former Vice President of Vidarbha Industries Association. In his inaugural address he said ‘Health is Wealth’ and the healthy mind keep every person safe. He also suggested production is must but not at the cost of safety.  Safety for employees of any organization is must and one should not be compromised on it. He further said related to “Industrial safety in the organisation, DISH is coming forward to bring safety culture in industries. There are only two contributing factor in any accident, unsafe act and unsafe condition and every employee must try to eliminate both.

Jayant Moharkar, I/c Addl Director of Industrial Safety & Health (DISH), Nagpur informed about objective of organising this three days workshop under the guidance of Dr Mahendra Kalyankar, (IAS), Hon. Director of Industrial Safety & Health, Mumbai. Such type of workshop was conducted in all over Maharashtra and this being the 13th Batch of workshop. He said the goal of workshop is to achieve ‘Zero Accident’ in industries, he said the workshop will help to operators and supervisors to understand the basic intention of Factory Acts and Rules and it will help them to implement safety systems at their work places very easily. It will also help them to improve work culture safety in their industries. Safety should be the part of planning in industry.

The workshop covers legal aspect, risk assessment, how to conduct mock drill, accident investigation, fire safety, electrical safety, chemical safety, first aid with CPR and other case studies. Along with this “Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs)” exhibition was inaugurated.

Earlier, Jayant Moharkar welcomed Ashit Sinha with floral bouquet and memento and Sharad Dhanvijay, Dy Director of DISH, Nagpur welcomed Jayant Moharkar and Vijay Nikole, Jt Director, Industrial Safety & Health, Akola and with floral bouquets and mementos. Pallavi Gampawar, Dy Director of DISH, Nagpur conducted the proceedings and also proposed a formal vote of thanks.

Workshop was attended by 59 representatives from 30 industrial units from Vidarbha region.
