Vidarbha scored a huge total of 665 for seven before declaring their innings against Uttar Pradesh in Cooch Behar Trophy match at VCA Kalamna ground, here on Thursday. At stumps Uttar Pradesh in their first innings made 132 for three.
After skipper Atharva Taide (119) and Aniruddha Choudhari (112) dominating the first day by hitting centuries, now it was the turn of Thubrikar ( 145, 210b, 18×4, 2×6) and Wath (127, 146 b, 17×4, 4×6) to make merry.
Both added 183 run partnership for fourth wicket. Finally Karan Sharma broke their century run stand by dismissing Wath with 490 runs on board. Pawan Parnate who remained unbeaten on 53 gave some good company to Wath. They added 58 runs for fifth wicket partnership.
When Thubrikar was on 145, he was ran out by Sameer Choudhary. The significant contribution also came from tailenders Darshan Nalkande (43, 51b, 2×4, 3×6) and Parth Rekhade (32 not out).
In reply, UP openers Abhishek Goswami (55, 84b, 7×4, 3×6) and Shivam Chaudhary (55 not out)scored half centuries and made 98 run partnership for first wicket. Finally Nalkande clean bowled Goswami and gave an important breakthrough to Vidarbha. Thanks to Parth Rekhade UP lost two quick wickets in the form of Rahul Rawat (4) and Hannan Rizwan (4).
