NMC wasting taxes on shifting of electric poles

NMC wasting taxes on shifting of electric poles

It is seen that the roads in Nagpur city are widened and concretized for a smooth flow of traffic, but the biggest hurdle that is faced by the city drivers and a question mark with could be felt as being bluffed is how could one travel on the a road which has an electric pole in between of it? The city roads, especially which have already been widened are built without removing or rather say shifting of electric poles.Newly built concrete roads have an extra area covered for the flow of traffic, this area was earlier a footpath or a patch left for the traffic poles and transformers. Now that the roads have been constructed people have started using it but have been facing issues. The same has caused many mishaps in the city, as during the night time it becomes difficult to guess a pole which is already in dark color.

It is noted that in 2001 the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) did the same mistake, when it had widened 47 roads in the city.Shankar Nagar, which is known to be the busiest road in the city has been newly constructed, the road is new six metre wide with paver blocks laid for three metres. This extra side of paver blocks has got many electric poles. Same happens to be at WCL road, civil lines but is seen to be in a much worsened condition. The stretch here is a big one where several electric pole and electric transformers are seen in the middle of the newly constructed road.

Now the NMC is planning to remove these poles and other electric power supplies to the extent of these roads. This might again bring up heavy construction time for the rebuilding of the roads after the removal of electric poles. Again all of tax of the citizens will be wasted and more traffic will be caused.

Abhijit Bangar, Municipal Commissioner has directed the officials to start the process in coming days.
