The encroachment in footpaths and roads in city are really creating headaches for the citizens and Mayor Sandip Joshi on Tuesday informed the commencement of a three-month-long intensive drive to free footpaths and roads from encroachments. He also announced that heavy fines will be collected from encroachers with the commencement of New Year.
He also announced that strict action will be taken against various types of nuisance and nuisance detection squad (NDS) will be strengthened. As per information, the NDS team will also work in second shift from 4pm to 12midnight.
And those who sells plastic kite, nylon manja and those using plastic in bouquet preparation will have to pay fines if they caught by NDS.
Mayor informed that action against encroachments on footpaths and roads will be taken as per the new policy submitted by a committee-headed by Dayashankar Tiwari.
And the standing committee followed by general body will approve the policy soon. He further said that now onwards hefty fines will be levied for the first time which will be doubled in second time.
And after first two times, the hawkers will not get materials back in third time. The NMC has prepared zone-wise enforcement teams which will ensure action across the city.
