The civic administration of the city finally decided to begin ‘Khau Galli’, the concept which was introduced long back near Gandhisagar Lake, in front of Raman Science Centre. The Khau Galli will start functioning on January 9, 2020 when Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate it.
Mayor said that structure is ready near Raman Science Centre. Somehow things did not work and the structure remained unused.
They got 78 applications and 32 stalls will be allotted. He added that they will try to keep variety of stalls so that it can attract people. Those who want to run the stall at ‘Khau Galli’ will have to give Rs 5,000 at deposit. The stall owner will pay Rs 5,000 as a maintenance cost.
Within seven days the tenders will be allotted. “Some corporators have come up with suggestions about closing the road between Raman Science Centre to the one that goes to Empress Mall for traffic from 6 pm to 11 pm. According to the corporators, if traffic is not stopped during evening time, the chaos will be witnessed on the already narrow road.
People can park their vehicles on the road between Raman Science Centre and Khau Galli and enjoy the food at the stall. He further informed that after the Standing Committee Meeting to be held on January 20 and they will take a final decision.The other issues he pointed that footpath repairing works, for which NMC to spend Rs.7 crore.
And the NMC will be starting the public toilets to be run at 87 places and will be maintained by the civic body. He also threw light on open plots with garbage. He said that there are several open plots people bought and did not do any construction work on it. These plots have become garbage dumping points. Being in the middle of the city, it gives a wrong picture to everybody. He said that they will give them notice asking to clean the area; a board in that regard would be put on display at the plot. A particular time limit would be provided. If the owner fails to do the cleaning work, NMC will seize the plot.
