Mayor Sandeep Joshi planted a tree on the RPTS road, on Tuesday. Neem saplings were planted around the city and for the better growth of a green coat around the city these plants were provided with a self watering system.
Every year 11 thousand saplings will be planted. The trees were planted along the roadside of RPTS road.
After planting trees, they have a great responsibility to look after them so to maintain their growth the self watering system plan has been implemented. This self watering system will be taking care of the planted saplings for almost two years.
To have a better growth of trees even in a drought like situation the self watering system has been initiated, said the officials of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. This system is being adopted for the first time in the whole country.
As this system has been implemented the civic authority will have to water the plants for just once in every fortnight. The water from these systems reaches directly to root of the plant. This system can save up to 60-70 percent of water in the city.
Considering the summer temperatures in Nagpur city, the system has been developed to protect the trees. Moreover, the cost of the self watering system is lesser than that of the tree gaurd.
