Hosts SNG-A too qualify for quarter finals
Girls from Gurudeo Nagar Krida Mandal (GKM) won their second successive game to qualify for the quarterfinals in the U-16 inter-club basketball championship played in the season 3 of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav at the SNG courts in Shivaji Nagar on Monday.
A day after they surprised experienced cagers from NBYS, the GKM girls defeated the second team from hosts SNG-B 35-11 to emerge as the pool B toppers and qualify for the quarterfinals of the six-day meet.
For the winners, Eshika Jivtode (10) and Anushka Bokade (8) played well in tandem. For SNG-B, Sara Bhatnagar and Kanishka Mande scored four points each.
In an exciting boys section league game, Pawanbhoomi Krida Mandal (PKM) edged out United Basketball Association (UBA) marginally by two points 33-31.
In another one-sided game hosts SNG-A thrashed Phoenix-B 60-2 to emerge as the group A toppers and qualify for the quarterfinals.
