Lokmat off to a flying start

Last year’s runners-up Lokmt began their campaign on winning note defeating Sakal by seven wickets in 22nd OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by SJAN in association with OCW, SBI and HCL Technologies at Vasant Nagar ground on Sunday.

Batting first after winning the toss Sakal scored 84 for nine in 20 overs. Thanks to Nitin Pataria who claimed four wickets for 19 runs. Pravin Lokhande too bowled well and captured two for 10. For Sakal, only skipper Shubham Kathawate (28) and Anil Kamble ( 10 not out )showed some resistance.

In reply Lokmat chased the target in 10.2 overs losing just three wickets.  Lokhande played an unbeaten knocked of 35, Sharad Mishra (21) and Amit Khodke (18) also batted well. businessman Rahul Thakar gave the man-of-the-match prize to Pravin Lokhande. In another match, Punyanagari entered the super six stage defeating Dainik Bhaskar by seven wickets. On Monday Loksatta will play Tarun Bharat at 9 a.m. at the same venue.

Lokmat: 86 for 3 in 10.2 overs (Pravin Lokhande 35*, wqSharad Mishra 21, Amit Khodke 18, Prajwal Harne, Shubham Kathawate and Anil Kamble one wicket each).

Result: Lokmat won by seven wickets
Kingsway MOM: Pravin Lokhande.

Dainik Bhaskar: 85 /9 in 20 0vers( Abhinav Fating 21*,  Rajiv Kaushik 13,  Sunil Khorgade 2 for 11,  Sanjay Thakre,  Shrikant Bondre, Satish Ashtankar one wicket each) Punyanagari:86 for 3 in 13 overs (Deepak Mane 35*,  Pankaj Pande 16,  Rahul Ingle 2 for 20)
Result: Punyanagari won by seven wickets
Kingsway MoM: Deepak Mane.
