Maha Metro Services Suspended Till 31st March

NAGPUR, 22nd March:* In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts being made by Government of India and Government of Maharashtra to fight the same, Nagpur Metro train services will not run up to 31st March 2020. In fact, right since outbreak of Corona Virus, Maha Metro Nagpur has taken continuous steps to ensure that the disease does not adversely impact either the commuters or its staff.

The decision to suspend train services was taken for containing further spread of Virus through inter-personal proximity, in view of the current global pandemic of this Corona Virus. Major establishments like hotels, malls, cinema theatres, shops have already been shut following government orders. This is to ensure that people stay indoors and minimize risk of transmission of this disease.

Maha Metro move is an attempt in the similar direction to encourage public to stay indoors and maintain social distancing, which is essential in the fight against COVID-19. Accordingly, the train operations were suspended on Sunday. This apart fumigation of metro stations, trains was also executed. While, metro staff was also tested for any possible symptoms of the disease, sanitizers were distributed at stations to ensure maximum prevention to both – staff and commuters.

Metro employees, officials, workers and even the commuters were subjected to body temperature checks using Infrared Thermometer. Awareness drive was also launched at Metro offices, stations and through social media as well. As part of this drive, information about Corona Virus was displayed on TV screens, Boards and aired through public address system. The decision to shut down services till 31st March is Maha Metro’s yet another contribution to contain spread of this disease.
