After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the people are finding it difficult to lead a normal life; the dreaded virus has unleashed its wrath on every sector of our life. Meanwhile, the government has declared a complete lockdown and education sector too is not free from its clutches.
After the lockdown the educational institutions are stopped the classes and students face it difficult to focus on studies. In view of the situation, several institutions, universities are coming forward with an idea of conducting on-line courses. Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has already started for its Post Graduate students. Similarly, Dr G K Awari, Head of Department of Automobile Engineering at Government Polytechnic came up with a novel idea by which students will be getting knowledge in automotive domain on-line.
The project is being conducted throughout Maharashtra. To avail the course, students have to register their names using google sheet where every details including their number are available. The following training programmes are conducted with the assistance of its industrial MoU partners Mahindra Truck and Bus Division and Mahindra Construction Equipment Division, Pune. The mission of these one week programmes has been to increase access to high quality industry oriented education/training for participating students.
The video tutorials jointly prepared by the faculty members of the department and eminent practicing engineers in the field are prepared and it will be provided to the students through WhatsApp groups. Eminent engineers and successful automotive entrepreneur are participating in this industrial guest lecture series. Industry-oriented on-line preparedness program on ‘Fundamentals of Automotive Engines’: This activity is designed for the first year students of automobile engineering and to prepare them for next academic session. The industry partner for this program is Mahindra Construction Equipment Division, Pune. Chandrashekhar Kale, Training Manager at MCE Nagpur will provide the customized training material to the students and also interacting with them during the course. The departmental teachers will assist the students to understand the fundamentals of the BSVI engines and its requirement. After the increased demand of this course from outside of organisation, it is also extended to the first year students of automobile engineering at various government polytechnics in the state.
