Timely decisions helped in containing coronavirus in India- PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a sixth review meeting with the Chief Minister of 21 states and UTs through video conference on Tuesday on COVID-19 crises discussed the strategies and plans from the state.
The meeting was held between Chief Minister of Punjab, Assam, and all other northeastern states and UTs.

PM Modi will hold a separate interaction Wednesday for CMs from states such as Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and others, which are seeing a spurt in cases and death numbers.
PM said that “the timely decisions helped in containing coronavirus in India. Because of the efforts made in the last few weeks, green shoots have begun to be visible in our economy”.

He urged people to use face masks and said that “To even think of stepping out without a mask or face cover is not right at present. ‘Do gaj ki doori’, hand-washing & use of sanitisers are utmost importance. With markets opening & people stepping out, these precautions are even more important”
He said that “For us the death of even 1 Indian is unsettling but it is also true that India is one of the countries where there have been least deaths due to COVID19”.
The recovery rate has gone above 50% in India.

Speaking about migrant people he said “In the last few weeks, thousands of Indians returned to India from abroad & hundreds of migrant workers reached their home towns. Almost all modes of transport have resumed operations; still, COVID19 impact has not been that huge in India as in other parts of the world”.
“2 weeks have passed since Unlock 1.0 our experience during this time could be beneficial for us in the future. Today I will get to know ground reality from you, your suggestions will help in chalking out future strategy” he added.

PM Modi will meet with the Chief Ministers of the 15 worst-affected states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Gujarat tomorrow.
