Demanding ban on online system for distribution, ration shop keepers go on indefinite strike

Demanding ban on the online process of food grains distribution, government ration shopkeepers started an indefinite strike from Tuesday. Ration shops were opened in the morning but as soon as strike was called by the Ration Shopkeepers Association, all the shop keepers closed their shops.

The point to be mentioned here is that card holders are yet to get food grains for the month of September. For the last few months card holders found trouble in getting the food grains from the ration shops due to the laxity of the food and civil supplies department.Earlier, the last government had made online process mandatory for food grains distribution while from April to July the government had banned the online process due to Covid infection. Joining the strike call of All Maharashtra Fare Price Shopkeepers’Federation, Pune government ration shop keepers have been on a state wide strike from September 1 demanding a ban on online process for grain distribution. The ration shop keepers in Nagpur challenged their demand in the court. Due to the court case the shop keepers in Nagpur did not participate in the stike. But after the call of Nagpur Ration Shopkeepers Association the shop keepers of the city have also joined the strike.
