Anand Deshpande to represent VCA to watch IPL final in UAE

Anand Deshpande will represent the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) to watch the thirteenth edition of the Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) final in UAE.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is sending a team of representatives to witness the November 10 mega final in Dubai. The BCCI had invited the Apex Council members and one representative from the State Associations for the final.

The BCCI had asked their affiliated units to send one name from their respective association so that the national governing body of cricket can arrange for their travel and stay arrangements in Dubai.

Confirming the news, the VCA president Adv Anand Jaiswal said the VCA has decided to send Anand Deshpande’s name.

“Our VCA executive committee member Anand Deshpande will represent our association. The BCCI had written to us a few days ago regarding their plans to send a team of delegates to witness the final. We have discussed this and today we have taken a decision to send him for the IPL final,” said Anand Jaiswal.

He said Anand Deshpande had attended several BCCI meetings in the past.

“Anand Deshpande had represented VCA in many meetings of the BCCI. Whenever there’s office bearers attendance is must, I normally go on behalf of our association. And whenever there’s no compulsion of office bearers presence, Anand Deshpande goes,” said Jaiswal.

Former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin will represent Hyderabad Cricket Association as far as attending the IPL final is concerned.

It is learnt that all the representatives of the respective State associations and Apex Council members will assemble at Mumbai to catch the Dubai flight a week in advance.

As far as resumption of cricket activities is concerned in Vidarbha, Jaiswal said they are waiting for State government’s clearance.

“Whenever we get a green signal from the State government and NMC authorities we will start our local cricket activities. I know there are several States in India which have already started their cricket practice but since Covid-19 situation is still not normal in our State we will have to wait a bit longer. We are hopeful of getting the necessary permission in a few days time,” said Jaiswal.
