The Housing and Urban Development Ministry of Union Government has decided to make some cities in the country Cycle friendly to give an encouragement to the cycling. As many as 105 cities including Nagpur have participated in this contest and results are yet to come. For that the Nagpur Smart and Sustainable city Development Association has taken the initiatives. In first phase 18-km dedicated cycle track will be created as pilot project.
As per information, cycle track site has been finalized as per project and the designing has also been completed. A survey was conducted so that maximum citizens should participate in the project. There would be 16 stations on 18-km track so that the cyclists can park their cycles. The track would be having markings and special arrangement will be made commuters and tri-cycles of physically challenged people. Citizens have been using bicycles for long time. From them opinions were taken regarding the problems they face while riding bi-cycles. Parking and road problems, pollution etc.
