MAL-PRACTICES OF E COMMERCE MAJORS ARE ROADBLOCK FOR TRADERS TO ADOPT ONLINE BUSINESS-CAIT TOLD TO PM

In a communication sent today to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has said that the traders across Country are more willing to adopt e-commerce as another business avenue under the “Digital India” program of the Government but it is the repeated brazen violation of FDI policy and other laws & rules by e-commerce companies which is proving a major roadblock in adoption and acceptance of ‘digital commerce’. The CAIT has urged the Prime Minister to order necessary action against such e-commerce Companies. To take vocal for local and atmnirbhar Bharat campaign in all nook & corners of the Country, the CAIT has suggested formation of a Joint Committee at National, State and each District level of the Country.

CAIT National President Mr. B.C.Bhartia & Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal said that it is most unfortunate that even being the custodian of the law, various Government Authorities have failed to protect the sanctity of the policy and law of the Government. They urged the Prime Minister that an e-commerce policy should be announced immediately with an explicit provision of an empowered Regulatory Authority to regulate and monitor the e-commerce business in India. They also urged that anomalies & disparities of Press Note No.2 of FDI policy should be removed and a fresh Press Note should be issued containing explicit & speaking policy of the Government.

Mr. Bhartia & Mr. Khandelwal opined that “vocal for local” & “Atmnirbhar Bharat” call of the Prime Minister can be a game changer for the domestic trade of the Country which has immense capabilities & capacities to produce high quality goods. However, the campaign needs to be taken on streets and for this purpose, the CAIT has suggested the Prime Minister Shri Modi to constitute a Joint Committee of Government officials with representatives of trade, consumers, civil society and small manufacturers at National level, State level and District level of every State across the Country to take the campaign down the line and encourage more and more people to associate with this innovative campaign which will dignify India as a most self dependent nation around the World.
