This is really a major concern that many citizens in Nagpur have not paid their water bills for years and the civic administration is undergoing through a severe financial crisis. As per information, water bills worth Rs.197.64 crore have not been paid. There are consumers who haven’t paid their water bills for years together. It is learnt that 21,977 consumers haven’t paid Rs.99.9 crore since years together.
Due to this, finally, their water connections have been cut. There are around 3.6 lakh water connections across Nagpur city. The civic authority had set target for recovery of water bills Rs.175 crore excluding the old dues. Water bills worth Rs.92.4 crore had been recovered till the end of November last year. This year, during the same period bills worth Rs.96.51 crore have been recovered. This is around Rs.4.11 crore more as compared to last year. Similarly, water bills worth Rs.98.54 crore are pending with Rs.1.78 lakh consumers.
