Akshit Dakshindas rallies back strongly to clinch U-12 boys singles title in NDHTA Home Tennis tournament

Akshit Dakshindas lived up to his immense potential to emerge champion in the Under-12 boys singles on the second and last day of the Nagpur District Hard Court Tennis Association-organized Home Tennis tournament for the U-12 and U-14 boys and girls which concluded at the Ram Nagar courts here on Sunday.

In an exciting U-12 boys singles summit clash, local boy Akshit Dakshindas rallied back strongly to surprise Pune’s Daksh Patil 1-4, 4-3 (7-4), 10-7.

Ten-year-old Akshat showed a lot of character and mental toughness to overcome the challenge of his higher ranked opponent.

After losing the opening set 1-4, Akshat was down 1-3 in the next set and it looked like it was all over for him.

However, Akshat, a Standard IV student of Bhavans Civil Lines, bounced back in style to shatter the hopes of his rival.

Executing excellent forehand and backhand winners, Akshat claimed the second set 4-3 to restore the parity.

In the decider, Akshat continued his brilliant form to clinch the title with a 10-7 verdict in his favour. Egged on by his parents and friends, Akshat changed gears to perfection on the way to a memorable victory.
