Vidarbha lose to Punjab by four wickets

Vidarbha suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Punjab in Vijay Hazare Trophy Match at Holkar Stadium in Indore on Friday.

Once again Skipper Faiz Fazal’s century went in vain. Riding on Prabhsimran Singh’s century (167), Pujnab achieved the victory with 13 balls to spare. Earlier

Earlier Vidarbha skipper Faiz Fazal scored the second century of the tournament and helped Vidarbha to score a good total of 290 for 9.

He  hit 101 off 99 balls with the lep of 9 boundaries and four sixes . In the process he scored eighth Lis tA century

Earlier against Andhra in the opening match the batsman scored 100 off 105 balls.

HE gave a good start to Vidarbha in the company of Sanjay Ramaswamy (25: 39b, 4×4) and made 72 runs partnership for first wicket.

After the departure of Ramaswmay, Faiz then consolidated the innings with another experienced partner Ganesh Satish.They made a century run partnership ( 103) for the second wicket-run stand for the second wicket. Ganesh Satish slammed 78 off 82 balls including seven fours and six.

Ganesh and Akshay Wadkar added 62 runs for the fourth wicket. After ganesh’s departure Vidrbhha lost couple of wickets but Wadkar kept the innings going and remained not out on 63.

For Punjab, Siddharth Kaul and Harpreet Brar captured four wickets each.

Chasing the target Prabhsimran played a match winning knock of 167 in 140 balls hitting 13 boundaries and nine sixes. Punjab batsmen played around him. He was well supported by Sanvir Singh (33), Anmol Malhotra (21) and Harpreet Brar, who remained unbeaten on 24.
