As per the  latest rankings released by the World Badminton Federation (BWF),  city shuttler Malvika Bansod  has improved her ranking. Now she moved up from 150 to 130 in a short span of a week.
In the final on Sunday Malvika recorded a thrilling victory against Anupama Upadhyaya of Haryana. Malvika notched up 2,500 points which boosted her overall points tally to 13,460.
It was Malvika’s third women’s singles title of the BWF tournaments. She had launched her seniors’ international campaign on a rousing note by winning the back-to-back titles on debut when she emerged champion in the Maldives International Future Series and Annapurna Nepal International Series in 2019.

Thereafter, the talented southpaw played five international tournaments including Uganda. She reached semifinals at Bahrain and quarterfinals at the India International Challenge in the same year.
Due to Covid-19, she could take part in only one event last year — SaarLorLux Open 2020 — in Germany in which she lost in the first round because of lack of match practice.
However, the title in Uganda has boosted her confidence a great deal and she is ready for a bigger challenge in the upcoming season.
