Vidarbha women lose to Andhra  by 49 runs in quarterfinal

Vidarbha women lost to Andhra Pradesh by 49 runs in the quarterfinal of the Women’s Senior One-Day Trophy at the Saurashtra Cricket Association ground in Rajkot on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 219 in 50 overs, Vidarbha were all out for 169 in 46.2 overs.

Earlier Andhra decided to bat fiorst  after winning the toss. They  put up a solid score of 218 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs.

Opener Anusha top scored with 52 in 67 balls hitting eight boundaries. V Pusjhpa Latha contributed 40 whereas M Durga scored 32.

Disha Kasat was the most successful Vidarbha bowler with 3 for 40. Last-match star Gargi Wankar scalped 2 for 32, while Nupur Kohale took a wicket.Vidarbha had a cautious start with Disha Kasat and Prangini Chauhan put on 48 runs for the first wicket in 16 overs.Prangini (15: 37b, 2×4) was the first to depart when she was caught in front of the wickets by G Chandra Lekha.

Vidarbha suffered major blow when their in-form Bharti Fulmali   returned to the pavilion  on duck.  Vidarbha could not recover from these back-to-back wickets as Andhra capitalized on the situation.

Disha Kasat was also returned to the pavilion after scoring the half-century. Disha scored 52 off 90 balls which included six boundaries a six.

All-rounder Nupur Kohale (43: 52b, 4×4) and Gargi Wankar (26: 35b, 3×4) stitched together a fighting partnership of 64 runs for the ninth wicket. For Andhra, CH Jhansi Lakshmi was the wrecker-in-chief and returned with a five-wicket haul (9.2-3-26-5). Saranya Gadwal claimed a couple of wickets.
