‘Take strict action against hospitals violating COVID-19 norms’ former Mayor Sandeep Joshi to NMC

In the wake of increasing violation of COVID-19 norms by private hospitals amid the havoc wrecked by novel coronavirus, former Mayor Sandeep Joshi has appealed Nagpur Municipal Commissioner to take strict action against such hospitals that are taking advantage of the situation of the patients and collecting lumsum amount from thier family members.

Taking the matter into consideration, the administration has come into action mode and NMC Additional Commissioner Jalaj Sharma has issued notices to 13 hospitals, including reputed hospitals in the city, for violating the government’s rule regarding COVID-19 bills.

It is worth mentioning  here that despite issuing strict guidelines and government’s continuous warning to prevent corona patients from being cheated many hospitals went on violating the norms in the name of treatment fee.

Former mayor Sandeep Joshi who is fighting against such fraud started a fight in this regard after realising that many reputed hospitals of the city are involved in such activity.

He received complaints from several citizens and took the initiative to reduce their hospital bills.

However, Joshi believes that the administration should take strict action and send a message to the other hospitals involved in the scam.

In this regard, he recently discussed the matter with NMC Commissioner Radhakrishnan B and Additional Commissioner Jalaj Sharma and warned that if no action is taken by the corporation, then an agitation against the corporation will be launched.

Acting on Joshi’s appeal, the administration took serious note and issued notice to several reputed hospitals in the city. These hospitals include Wockhardt Hospital, Shankar Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Seven Star Hospital, Jagannade Chowk, Viveka Hospital, Subhash Nagar, Sushruta Hospital, Ramdaspeth, Ayushman Hospital, Ramdaspeth, Kingsway Hospital Kasturchand Park, VIMS Hospital Kampthi Road, Hope Hospital Kampthi Road, Safe Hand Hospital Lakdaganj, Radiance Hospital Chaparu Nagar, Medicare Hospital Mankapur and Aurias Hospital Vanjari Nagar.

Former mayor Sandeep Joshi has further sugested that if the auditors appointed by the corporation in the hospitals play their role impartially, the looting of many citizens will be stopped.

Meanwhile, Joshis has given few contact numbers to citizens to lodge their grievances in this regard by contacting Anand – 9822204677,
Ameya – 9561098052,
Shaunak – 7447786105,
Manmit – 7744018785.
