The tigress that attacked a veterinary doctor in the buffer zone of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) on Thursday was found dead by the officials on Saturday.
The tigress was under observation since June 2, 2021 in Compartment No. 327 of Doni-1 beat of Mul (Buffer) range of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, as she was unable to move comfortably.
On June 3, when a team of veterinarian and Rapid Response Unit of Chandrapur, were on a field trip in the buffer zone the tigress attacked the veterinarian in which he suffered leg injury. Since then, forest staff was monitoring the tigress in the area.
A team of field staff found the tigress dead on June 5 at 10 am. Senior officers along with representatives of NTCA visited the spot and took the body to Transit Treatment Centre for post-mortem examination. Based on report, the cause of death was due to hypovolemic shock resulting from internal hemorrhage caused due to severe external injuries. All the body parts of the tigress were found to be intact.
