GST is a Technology Driven Law – CA Milind Patel

There have been many changes in GST Law. With so many notifications and circulars, continuous and regular updation of GST provisions is the need of the hour. It was with this objective that Nagpur Branch organized a VCM on Provisions related to Import, Export and Refunds under GST.

“You need to be updated continuously in GST”, remarked CA Milind Patel, Past Chairman of Nagpur Branch while speaking as a Chief Guest at VCM on Provisions related to Import, Export and Refunds under GST organized by Nagpur Branch of ICAI. CA Milind Patel said that nowadays Chartered Accountants are occupied in compliance practice which is getting more of automated nowadays.

The provisions of GST in Import, Export and Refunds are very relevant and needs to be understood properly for effective understanding and implementation of provisions. Earlier not many CA’s used to represent at CESTAT; but with changing scenarios now more and more CA’s are appearing and arguing cases on behalf of clients which is a welcome beginning. GST is a Technology Driven Law and all procedures related to it need to be followed properly else stricter actions would be followed automatically by the system, stated CA Patel.

Chartered Accountants have now diversified their practice area to consultation and litigation work which adds value to the clients businesses. CA Milind Patel urged professionals to read, interpret and comply with all laws to enable proper compliances. He congratulated CA Saket Bagdia, Chairman and his Team for regularly organizing seminars for the benefit of members.

“Chartered Accountants have played a major role in implementation of GST Law in India” remarked CA Saket Bagdia, Chairman of Nagpur Branch. Many times it happens that Assessees err in making applications for Exports and claiming refunds and that’s the reason proper consultation with a Professional is a must. The rules and procedures in Import, Export and Refund claims need to be understood properly. To give a practical insight into all these requirements, learned speakers have been called for clarification of doubts of members, Bagdia Concluded.

CA Vishal Poddar from Nashik and CA Archana Jain from New Delhi effectively deliberated on the topic. All provisions related to Import and Export were covered in the presentation by the learned speakers. CA Vishal Poddar covered the relevance of customs provisions in GST while explaining difference between import of goods and services. He explained how deemed export is different under GST laws as compared to earlier laws. CA Archana Jain covered all types of refunds in GST, explained in detail procedure for refunds and challenges faced in refunds and its solutions practically. The session was well covered by both the speakers and all queries were effectively resolved.

The session was coordinated by CA Sanjay M Agrawal, Secretary of Nagpur Branch. Prominently present on the occasion were CA Jitendra Saglani, Vice Chairman, CA Akshay Gulhane, Treasurer, CA Kirit Kalyani, Immediate Past Chairman, CA Sakina Kothawala, CA Sunil Paliwal, CA Prateek Vaidya, CA Mithilesh Bharadwaj, CA Aditya Gautam and a large number of Chartered Accountants.
