Stars of the upcoming Bollywood sports drama Toofaan interacted with media in a virtual meeting today.
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra this is the second time when he joined hands with Actor Farhan Akthar after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Farhan is portraying the life journey of a goon Azzi Ali aka Ajju Bhai who turns his life through boxing.
Farhan shared that the story is about love, about struggle, about inspiration on how one can lift themselves up again from the fall, it is about a man who wants to do good with his life and bring out the toofaan inside them in a positive way.
To connect with the character I tried to be in the skin of the boxer rather than just act as a boxer. I trained from 8 months before the movie during which I got the chance to think like him, Farhan added.
Speaking about the character of Dr. Ananya who is the love interest of Ajju Bhai (Farhan) Mrunal Thakur shared that her character gives hope to the people. Ananya is a sweet girl who wants to bring happiness to people’s lives and introduces them to their real talent.
Director Mehra shared that every story has its own soul. The reel imitates real and the real imitates reel. We tried to show the real-life story through the film. Once you see the movie it will give the audience an idea of how different the movie is from other sports dramas. I believe that the audience will connect to the character.
Looking at the current COVID situation with all theaters closed OTT platform seems a suitable option to release our work as we all want the audience to enjoy our film, he added
Toofaan is all set to premiere on 16th July 2021 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in English and Hindi.
The film is directed by ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ fame Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and features an ensembles cast, lead by Farhan Akhtar in the lead role along with Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur, Hussain Dalal, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Darshan Kumaar and Vijay Raaz.
