Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari and Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B, on July 30 Friday, inaugurated the Street for People project at Sitabuldi main road.
Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd (NSSCD) announced Nagpur’s Sitabuldi market as ‘Street for People’ under the Smart City project.
The market which lies in the heart of city is one of the oldest and busiest markets, will be rejuvenated and developed, to provide a good experience for shoppers, visiting the place from all over the region.
Bhuwaneshwari S, CEO of NSSCDC said “the main market will be vehicle free and any type of transportation would be banned to avoid chaos and crowd. From coming 15 days every day, the campaign will be executed 300 metres away from variety square”.
“A fixed defined place will be allotted to hawkers, which would result in a safe and secure atmosphere for women and elderly citizens. By such arrangement road accidents could be avoided on a large scale” she added. The concept will be implemented in market of Mahal and Itwari areas too.
