Forestmen have become successful in trapping the problem leopard that had created terror in Illur and paper mill area in Markanda round under Markanda Forest Range in Gadchiroli district on Tuesday. After learning the news, villagers from this and Ashti area have heaved a sigh of relief.
It is reported that the menacing leopard had attacked and killed two persons and mauled three others during the last one month. The terror led to people pull on life with a sense of insecurity. Following orders from the higher authorities to capture the wild animal, forestmen installed three cages at the strategic spots near paper mill.

The big cat got trapped in one of the cages in the night while foresters shifted it to a safer place. A veterinary doctor examined the leopard and submitted his report. The leopard is being sent to Gorewada Rescue Centre, Nagpur, shortly. Bharti Raut, Range Forest Officer, Markanda, and staff members worked hard to capture the wild animal.
