Vande Mataram Health Posts coming up in city

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is creating 75 Vande Mataram Health Posts in different slum and weaker section areas in the city under ‘Azadi – 75’ programme in order to provide medical facilities to them right in their areas. Various social organisations have extended active support to management these posts.

Dayashankar Tiwari, the Mayor, who conceptualised the idea, held a meeting of the representatives of various organisations in Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall in NMC here on Tuesday to discuss the issue. Sunil Agrawal, Senior Corporator, Milind Meshram, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, and representatives of the organisations were present in the meeting.

Tiwari spoke on the concept of Vande Mataram Health Posts and said that NMC identified certain localities for development of these posts so as to provide primary medical facilities to the weaker sections of society. The citizens will get the facilities just by charging Rs ten per head. NMC will is making arrangements for land, electricity, water doctors, health workers, medicines etc at these posts.

He said, the poor people have to go long distance for getting medical help and hence the corporation is providing this facility in their areas on reasonable amount. The work of all the posts would be completed in the near future, he said adding that voluntary organisations have promised to extend all possible help to this cause in the interest of society.
