Maharashtra Department of Home Affairs has issued a notification allowing goods carriers, school buses and private vehicle operators to carry passengers, as MSRTC employees are on strike.
The notification has been issued under the signature of Meenakshi Karhade, Officiating Officer, Home Department (Transport).
The notification appears a shock as school buses/vans are allowed to accommodate other passengers tan school children. Good transport vehicles are allowed to carry passengers. The notification will add to several problems the society is already facing.
The school going children may face problems from unwanted passengers, which may include kidnappers or other anti-socials. The parents and the school administration would never approve this move. The goods transport vehicles may carry passengers in a manner which could pose possibilities of serious accidents. Unlawful traffic on roads is a problem, which the traffic department has not been able to handle effectively.
The notification appears to be helping illegal transport, in order to suppress the strike of employees of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Employees.
