Special Air India flight leaves for Ukraine to bring back Indians as tensions escalate

As the tension between two countries Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate the Indian government has sent a special Air India flight to bring back the Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine.

The first special flight left for Ukraine on Tuesday morning to bring back Indian nationals stranded in the former soviet state which has found itself in the middle of soaring tensions between Russia and the West.

In view of the continued high level of tensions in Ukraine, additional flights are being organised. Four flights from Kyiv to Delhi to operate on February 25, 27 and March 6, 2022 the Embassy of India in Ukraine informed.

The development comes after the Indian embassy recommended Indian students and other citizens whose stay in Kyiv was not required to leave the city temporarily last week, citing rising tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

Scheduled flights between India and Ukraine, operated by Air Arabia, Fly Dubai and Qatar Airways, among others, will continue to operate on the route, according to the embassy. Air India’s special ferry flight — a Dreamliner B-787 aircraft – departed for Boryspil International Airport in Ukraine on Tuesday morning. It will arrive in Delhi on Tuesday evening.
