Nagpurian get patent for method for biodiesel producing

Australian Government has granted patent to Ankit Patil and Dr Sushant Satputaley for their invention ‘A method and system for producing biodiesel’.

Ankit, a young Nagpurian, is a keen researcher and works on various issues, which can be used for larger benefit of the people. He is being guided by Dr Satputaley, a teacher with Palloti College of Engineering, Nagpur.

Ankit has worked on easy method of biodiesel blending with regular one. He is working in Research and development wing of Anchan Petroleum Limited, Dwarka, New Delhi.

Ankit said that people in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are making maximum use of biodiesel. Unfortunately the market has not grown in Maharashtra. It not even 10 percent of what is being sold in UP and Bihar.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been promoting use of biodiesel consistently. However, inadequate outlets for biodiesel appear to be a major hurdle in people shifting to this fuel, which is cheaper and also controls pollution.

Anchan Petroleum is selling 70,000 to 1 lakh litres of biodiesel per month. The company is also involved in making Bio-CNG.

Ankit is of the opinion that industries and builders can easily use biodiesel for back-up generators or other machinery operated on diesel.

The diesel vending units can easily install biodiesel and diesel blenders at their vending units. Blending regular diesel with 30 percent biodiesel is officially allowed by the Government.
