Discussion with Home Minister fails to withdraw Yuvraj Sambhajiraje’s hunger strike

Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil held discussion with Yuvraj Sambhajiraje Chhatrapti, MP on Sunday evening. Yuvraj Sambhajiraje is on indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan, Mumbai. Today was the second day of his strike.

Following discussion Sabhajiraje stated that Walse-Patil has assured discussion about his demands with the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and take decision.

Sambhajiraje is on hunger strike in support of demand of reservation for Maratha community. He has alleged that the State Government has failed to grant reservation for the community.

Walse-Patil tried to convince him to withdraw the hunger strike and assured discussion on all his demands on an urgent basis. Yuvraj Sambhajiraje, however, did not withdraw the hunger strike and said that he can sustain fpr another ¾ days. The State Government should take decision on the issue on urgent basis. The discussion with those concerned may be held on war footing.

Meanwhile call for Padharpur Bandh on Monday has been given in support of the hunger strike.
