International Womens’ Day on 8th March 2021

Women’s Cell and Rotaract Club of Dharampeth M.P.Deo Memorial Science College, Nagpur celebrated International Womens’ Day on 8th March 2022.The Chief Guest of the programme was Honourable Dr. Sadhana Rayalu, Deputy Director and Chief Scientist at EMD Division Nagpur  National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.

She spoke on sustainable development which is based on protection and preservation of the environment and respect and improvement of social and human rights. She emphasized on the use of Green fire crackers which are especially developed after thorough R&D by her team of NEERI Scientists, a team dominated by female scientist.

Further she said that sustainability is the key to a better future. Dr. Akhilesh V Peshwe welcomed all the guests and made the introductory remarks and gave his best wishes to all the women teachers of the college. Dr.Mrs. Archana Kulkarni, Vice Principal, declared the release of two books written by Dr. Meghna Pandit, entitled ‘The Basics of Public Health’ and ‘Laboratory Manual’ to guide students through the theory and practical aspects of the subject of public health and epidemiology.

The presidential address was given Adv. Ulhas Aurangabadkar, President of Dharampeth Education Society, Nagpur. He appreciated the contribution of women in various spheres of life by citing the recent example of woman pilot who rescued Indian students from Ukraine.

On this occasion the college felicitated five women workers, Nita Gajbhiye , Kamal Bhandarkar , Ulka Ghuguskar , Dipali Gawhane , Sangita Thawkar who works under  Adhaar Prakalp of Malhar Foundation by making paper bags of newspapers, magazines, paper materials, cloth and other recyclables from urban localities and their mentor Aakash from Malhar Foundation. Dr.Mrs. Archana Kulkarni,Vice  Principal ,Senior College, Vice Principal of Junior College, Mrs. Vinaya Kashikar, Supervisor, Mrs. Shobha Zalke, Teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students were present on the occasion.

The programme was compered byDr. Mrs. Shraddha Pande, Lecturer, Department of Physics, Junior College. Dr.Mrs. Shraddha Deshpande, Convener of Women Cell and Rotaract Club team worked hard for the success of the programme.
