A.G. Nagpur emerge IA&AD West Zone carrom champions

A.G. Nagpur emerged champions in the recently concluded Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD) West Zone Carrom Team Championship 2022 which was held at Gwalior, by defeating DGCA, Mumbai in the finals, 2-1.

Raju Bhaisare of A.G. Nagpur, pocketed the Singles crown defeating Dilesh Khedekar of DGCA, Mumbai 2-0, while Narayan Dhurve of A.G. Nagpur lifted the Veterans title defeating Hemraj Bawane of A.G. Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The tournament was held from 8th to 10th April 2022, at Gwalior.

In the finals of team championship, A.G. Nagpur beat D.G.C.A, Mumbai 2-1. In the first Match, Raju Bhaisare of A.G. Nagpur beat Jitendra Kale of DGCA, Mumbai, 25-6, 25-11. In the second match, Dilesh Khedkar of DGCA, Mumbai got the better of Rajesh Jambhulkar 25-11, 7-25, 25-13, to equalize 1-1. In the third doubles match, Sudhir Bamburde & Ravi Tirmale of A.G. Nagpur beat Pradeep Bharia & Nilesh Jadhav of DGCA, Mumbai to pocket the Team Championship title in Nagpur’s favour 2-1.

In the Individual Mens tournament, RajuBhaisare of A.G. Nagpur emerged Singles Champion when he defeated Dilesh Khedkar of DGCA, Mumbai in straight sets 25-0, 25-2. Earlier in the quarter-finals he beat Rais of A.G. Jaipur, Rajasthan 25-0, 25-0 and in the semi-finals he beat Jitendra Kaleof  DGCA, Mumbai, 25-5, 25-17. Two white slams were scored by Raju Bhaisare, one in the quarter-final and one in Semifinal.

In the veteran’s event, Narayan Dhurve of A.G. Nagpur beat Hemraj Bawane of A.G. Raipur, Chhattisgarh 10-16, 25-13, 21-14 to lift the veteran’s title.

Praveer Kumar, Accountant General (A&E), Nagpur felicitated the victorious A.G. Nagpur winning team and wished them luck for the IA &AD Inter-Zonal Carrom Tournament which is slated to be held in Guwahati, Assam from 28th to 30th April 2022.

Dinesh Mate, Sr. Dy. Accountant General (Pension, Fund & Accounts), Akshay Khandare, Dy. Accountant General (Admn), Dhanraj Chavhan, Welfare Officer, Subhash Talnikar, President (AGRC), Ram  Andani, Secretary (AGRC)were present on the occasion.

A.G. Nagpur Team was led by RajuBhaisare, while other players of the team were Rajesh Jambulkar, Sudhir Bamburde, Ravi Tirmale and Sanjay Bhawte. Narayan Dhurve represented the Veterans category. Sushama Chaudhary and Kavita Nair represented Women’s Team

Manager of the team was Dhanraj Chavhan.
