A.G. MAHARASHTRA, WEST BENGAL, KERALA, TAMILNADU in SEMI FINALS

Hosts, A.G. Maharashtra defeated A.G. Meghalaya 2-1, to setup semifinal clash with A.G. West Bengal who blanked A.G. Rajasthan 2-0, while defending champions A.G. Kerala got the better off of Delhi Audit team, defeating them 2-0 to setup their semifinal clash with A.G. Tamilnadu who thrashed A.G. Jammu and Kashmir, 6-2, in the ongoing Indian Audit & Accounts Department(IA&AD) Inter Zonal Football Tournament, 2022 which is being conducted under the aegis of Accountant General Recreation Club (AGRC) of the Office of The Accountant General (Audit) II, Maharashtra, The finals is slated for 21st April 2022 at Motibagh Football Stadium, Nagpur.

In the Quarter Final Match between A.G. Maharashtra and A.G. Meghalaya, played at Motibagh Football Stadium, Nagpur, Captain Anirban Paul headed the ball in, in the 36th minute to open the account for the A.G. Maharashtra.

Half time score read 1-0. In the second half, A.G. Meghalaya were on the attack and kept the possession of the ball for most of the time and the equalizer did come in the 67th minute from a field goal by S.S. Sohktung to make it 1-1. A.G. Maharashtra earned a spot (penalty) kick in the 72nd minute and Ashish converted it with a powerful kick to right side of the goalkeeper making in 2-1 for the hosts. Final score line read 2-1 in favour of A.G. Maharashtra.
In the other quarter final match between A.G. Kerala and Delhi Audit played at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Stadium, Defending Champions, A.G. Kerala went into the lead with a superb field goal by Stephen Das in the 22nd minute. Half time score read 1-0. Another field goal by Marbin Jerald of A.G. Kerala in the 48th minute sealed the fate of the match, in their favour 2-0.

In another quarter final match between A.G. West Bengal and A.G. Rajasthan, 2 superb field goals by Jobin Justin of A.G. West Bengal, in the 15th and 40th minute in first half was the spotlight of the match, which happened to the final score line of the match, 2-0 in A.G. West Bengals favour.
In the other quarter final match, between A.G. Tamilnadu and A.G. Jammu and Kashmir, Ifham Tariq of A.G. Jammu and Kashmir opened the score in the 10th minute, Vikram Patil of A.G. Tamilnadu equalized it in the 32nd minute through a field goal, 3 minutes later A.G.

Tamilnadu shot into the lead via a field goal by A. Raegan. Half time score read 2-1 in favour of A.G. Tamilnadu. Jockson Dhass consolidated the lead in the 47th minute via another field goal to make 3-1. Amanjot Singh of A.G. Jammu & Kashmir reduced the lead via a field goal by Amanjot Singh, 3-2. A. Raegan scored his second goal in the 59th minute, making it 4-2. Another 2 goals by Jockson Dhass made it 6-2. Final score read 6-2 in favour of A.G. Tamilnadu.

Earlier, IA&AD Inter Zonal Football tournament was inaugurated at Motibagh Stadium, Nagpur today by Mr. Maninder Uppal, Divisional Railway Manager, South East Central Railway, Nagpur. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Uppal appreciated the entire staff of Audit for the concerted efforts and wonderful arrangements for all the players coming from various parts of the country and wished them best of Luck for their matches. Mr. Praveer Kumar, Accountant General (A&E), Maharashtra, Nagpur, congratulated all the teams who had strived hard to reach this finals and that both victory and failure encourages a team to do their best next year, and playing is important than winning the match. Mr. R. Thiruppathi Venkataswamy, Patron and Accountant General (Audit)-II, Maharashtra, Nagpur, welcomed all the teams and to enjoy their matches, and also the stay and match arrangements. All the dignitaries shook hand with all the players of team and the Chief Guest, Maninder Uppal, controlled the ball showing his football skills and kicked the ball to proclaim the tournament open. Shri Devendra Mishra, President (AGRC) welcomed everyone, while Ranjit Sharma compered the program.

Accountant General, Branch office, Mumbai, Shri Dinesh Mate, Sr. Dy. Accountant General (Pension, Fund & Accounts), Shri. Akshay Khandare, Dy. Accountant General (Admn), Shri. Naresh Kumar Manne, Dy. Accountant General (AMG-IV), Mr. Aditya Somkuwar, Sr. Sports Officer, SE Railway, Shri Dhanraj Chavhan, Welfare Officer and large number of officers and staff members were present on the occasion.
