Now, the city can boast of one more attractive spot for tourists in the form of floating musical fountain at Futala lake, said to be the biggest in the world. It is a dream project of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways.
The trial run was held on Wednesday evening in presence of Gadkari and dignitaries when the select persons delighted to see the display of colourful lights stream with lights and dancing to tunes and halogen lights.
The musical fountain show was first of its kind in the city that regaled the members of audience. Legendary A R Rehman has composed the music while the commentary is by Gulzar, Lyricist and well-known personality, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Nana Patekar, noted actor.
The wait of the curious citizens finally ended as the fountain was inaugurated on Thursday with great zeal. The show at musical fountain will be a first of its kind as it will present the world class technology in Nagpur.
The 35-minute show has four sections comprising an audio-visual presentation of the history of Nagpur. A special bank of medleys based on different themes consisting of Hindi and Marathi films and classical numbers has also been created to be a part of the mesmerising show.
Moreover, the commentary made for the multimedia fountain show is based on the history of Nagpur and popular songs. In this, Patekar makes commentary in Marathi, Gulzar in Hindi and Bachchan in English.
One of the highlights of the foundation is that the signature tune of the musical fountain is prepared by Rehman. This show will bring together music, lights and sound to take people on an incredible journey.
