Stamp papers are required for land sales/purchases, registry, agreements, document registration, judicial works, and other government functions. The needy, on the other hand, are forced to pay more due to frequent shortages of stamp papers.
Stamp papers are scarce in tehsil offices, city and rural registry offices. People pay 120 and 2550 for stamp papers worth 100 and 2500, respectively.
To sell stamp papers, the government has designated authorised vendors. These vendors receive two commissions for each stamp paper of 2100. However, vendors are selling stamp papers at higher prices.
