The new mining policy will be approved before January 26 – Devendra Fadanvis

Ease of doing business must be created if the mining sector is to grow. Block auction process for mines should be fast and transparent, and new technologies should be used to meet the challenges in the mining sector. Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed the opinion that he will approve the implementation of the new mining policy in the state to achieve this goal, and will announce the decision in this regard before January 26.

A three-day conference ‘MINCON 2022’ has been organized in Nagpur to highlight the availability and utilization of mines, minerals and metals in the state. It has organized exhibitions, conferences, trade meetings and vendor development programs.

Organized by Vidarbha Economic Development Council, MM Activ Sci Tech Communications Pvt. Ltd. and Maharashtra State Mining Corporation, through the State Government and Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.

Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated the second day’s session today. On this occasion, he addressed the officials of various ministries, entrepreneurs, researchers, and vendors related to the mining industry.

Fadnavis said that the organization of MINCON 2022, which has given a new lease of life to the mining sector, is commendable. While exploiting the resources provided by nature, we should not lose consciousness. Minerals cannot be reproduced but are formed naturally.

Keeping this in mind, sustainable mining should be our goal, he appealed to the experts and stakeholders present in the mining sector. He asserted the need to focus on using solar/wind energy as an alternative to conventional energy sources.

On this occasion, Maharashtra State Mining Corporation President MLA Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, Parinay Phuke, Principal Secretary Industries and Mines Department Harshdeep Kamble, Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED) President Devendra Parekh and Shivkumar Rao, Ravi Boratkar of MMActive were prominently present. In his address, MLA Ashish Jaiswal, raised the issue of delay in getting environmental approval for mining projects.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that our government which thinks of the common man has come. The thoughts that were brainstormed at MinCon held three years ago. Based on that, the mineral policy of the state was to be decided. But in the meantime the government changed and this policy was neglected. The deliberations at the last MINCON as well as the changes made in this policy after three years and proposals for future changes should be presented.

A positive solution will be taken by talking to the Chief Minister on all the proposals coming out of the deliberations of Mincon 2022. He announced on this occasion that a positive policy will be prepared and the comprehensive mineral policy of the state will be announced before January 26.

MLA Ashish Jaiswal, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Mining Corporation, expressed his regret that the local industries are not getting coal at discounted rates. He also said that like the District Mineral Fund, the state is also not getting funds for the infrastructure of this department.

In this regard, in his speech, Fadnavis explained that he will try to restore the coal provided to the industries at a discounted rate and also to give the state mineral fund like the district mineral fund.

On this occasion, he appealed that the abundant mineral wealth of Vidarbha should be utilized properly. In the world, the civilisations that have not used the wealth in the womb of the earth properly have got destroyed. Therefore, it was hoped that this property should be properly utilized keeping in mind all the new experiments being done at the global level.

In Vidarbha, all aspects that complement this industry should come into existence. Now the Nagpur Mumbai Prosperity Highway will be a boost route for the mineral industry and in the next three years a large-scale logistics hub will come up in Vidarbha.

Now, not only raw materials will be extracted from this place, but process industries will start on it. An iron project will definitely start at Surjagad in Gadchiroli. The Deputy Chief Minister also explained that the project was approved only on the condition of starting the project.

At this time, the illegal sand miners in Nagpur district should be careful while expressing their views on the complaint of minor minerals. The government will not tolerate degradation of the environment, biodiversity of the river while pumping sand. Those who do wrong must go to jail. Government money should go to government coffers.

The complexity of the list regarding the main mineral, minor mineral will be removed. Also the policies of other states will be studied through the department. Mining operations will no longer be halted due to lack of environmental clearances.

Therefore, the government is trying to devise a policy to allow the environment department at the time of auction while starting the mines, he explained. Earlier, Ashish Jaiswal, Chairman of Mining Corporation, Harshdeep Kamble, IAS, Principal Secretary of Mining Department, expressed their views. Tomorrow is the last day of this conference.

The Conference cum Exhibition MINCON 2022 has been organised by Vidarbha Economic Development Council, MM Activ and Maharashtra State Mining Corporation, supported by the State Govt and Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Narayan Rane will attend the closing ceremony of MINCON 2022 PM Parlewar, Director, MSME – Maharashtra will deliver the Keynote Address the concluding session.
