A journalist from Nagpur was arrested for raping women under bogus marriage promises

A local journalist has been detained by the Ambazari Police for allegedly raping a 35-year-old lady under bogus marriage promises.

Police have detained the accused, Amit Prabhakar Wandre (32), a resident of Gavalipura, Dharampeth, based on the victim’s complaint.

According to the police, I had met the victim earlier in 2014–2015 while they were both still in college and working for Wandre’s independent channels, Nagpur Samachar 24 and Maharashtra Samachar 24.

They were both Ambedkar College students. Throughout, the victim, a marketing professional, and Wandre’s acquaintance developed into love.

Wandre sexually exploited the victim between December 2015 and June 2021 by taking her to various locations.

Victim agreed since Wandre had promised to marry her and she had given her permission.

However, Wandre tended to alter the subject anytime she brought up marriage. Infuriated by this, the victim went to Ambazari Police and filed a report.

Nevertheless, Wandre made an effort to ignore the situation by using his contacts.

However, the victim was able to register a FIR thanks to the quick action of CP Amitesh Kumar, Zone 2 DCP Dr Sandeep Pakhale, and Sr PI Gajanan Kalyankar, and police also detained the accused journalist.
