Due to bursting of the water pipeline of Omkar Nagar the water supply to four water tanks in has been disrupted leading to no water in four major areas under the Dhantoli zone. The pipeline is learnt to have broken down due to the ongoing work of cable laying by the contractor of Reliance Jio.
The bursting of pipelines has stopped the water to four major water tanks in Reshimbagh, Hanuman Nagar, Vanjari Nagar 1 and Vanjari Nagar 2 water tanks. To prevent wastage of water the authorities have closed the main valve at Omkar nagar.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Orange City Water (OCW) company have taken up the repair work of the water channel on priority basis until the work is fully completed.
Areas in Dhantoli Zone where water supply will remain disrupted till the pipeline is repaired include Reshimbagh Jalakumbh : Sudampuri, Nehru Nagar, Shivnagar, Om Nagar, Old Paradise, Mahaveer Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Anand Nagar and Bharat Colony.
Hanuman Nagar Reservoir supplies water to Reshimbagh, Chandan Nagar, Sirsapeth Hanuman Nagar, Mahesh Colony, Somwari Peth, Vakil Peth, Raghuji Nagar, PTS Vasahat.
The VanjariNagar 1 (old) supplies water to Kaushalya Nagar, New Babulkheda, Chaudhary Mohalla, Kukde Layout, Chandramani Nagar, Vasant Nagar, Old Babulkheda, Pragati Nagar, Ishwar Nagar, Kailash Nagar, and Shramjivi Nagar.
Vanjari Nagar 2 (new) supplies water to Bajrang Nagar, Vijnekar Nagar, Vishwakarma Nagar, Taj Nagar, Savitribai Phule Nagar, Bodhivruksh Nagar, Mhada Colony, Tribal Colony, Police Colony, Shivraj Nagar, Raghuji Nagar, Somwari Quarter, Tukdoji Nagar, and MHADA Quarters.
Even though, the water supply has been disrupted due to this sudden breakdown, the NMC and OCW are on their foot to resolve the problem. They have appealed to all the citizens of the affected areas to cooperate.
