On Sunday, a 27-year-old boy drowned while attending a friend’s birthday party in Zilpi Lake. Ashish Marathe, a resident of Bhandara, has been identified as the deceased. Ashish worked as a security guard for a private firm.
He lived in Khapri’s rehabilitation colony. At 2 p.m. on Sunday, Asish went to Mohgan Zilpi to celebrate a friend’s birthday, Pradeep Bawankar, with 15 to 20 other youngsters. According to reports, Asish went swimming in the lake after the birthday celebration. After swimming for a while, Asish began swimming back to the lake’s shore where he began drowning.
Asish’s friend Atul Khadse, who was sitting on the bank, and two others attempted to assist him but were unsuccessful. After some time of searching, Hingna police were notified and rushed to the scene.
The Hingna Police alerted firefighters, and a search operation was launched to locate Ashish. The search was halted on Sunday evening due to darkness and resumed on Monday morning. According to reports, Asish had prior swimming experience but drowned after entering the deep waters. Hingna police have opened an investigation after registering a case of accidental death.
