Any mass media has responsibility of maintaining credibility. With the changing mode of publishing news faster, journalists have a responsibility of verifying the news before publishing. Fake news has posed a serious challenge before the journalist. This was stated by Nimish Kapur of Publication Department of Government of India and Chief of Science Film Festival.
Kapur was addressing the students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Amravati on ‘Fact-checking and verification in news media. Associate Professor of the Institute Dr Rachana Sharma was the guest of honour. Dr Virendra Kumar Bharati was in the chair. He also expressed his views on the theme. He said that fake news is nothing less than yellow journalism.
Kapur said that journalists should refrain from publishing fake news and spreading rumours.
