At the nineteenth Convocation Ceremony of SRM University in Gaziabad today, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature (D. Litt.). In the presence of Union Minister General (Retd.) V.K. Singh, M.P. Satyapal Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Ravi Pachamootho, Vice-Chancellor Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, and Director Sanjay Vishwanathan, the degree was presented by the Chancellor of SRM University, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar.
This Honorary Doctorate was awarded to Nitin Gadkari in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the advancement of highway infrastructure in India and his efforts to bring it up to par with other developed nations.
