Maharashtra State Under-9 Open and Girls Selection Chess Championship being got inaugurated at the hands of Shri Girish Vyas, Ex-MLC and Vice President, MCA at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Wadi Hingna Link Road, Nagpur in presense of Grandmaster Sankalp Gupta, Dr. Mrunal Naik, Project Head, Raisoni Group and Shri Ankush Raktade, Jt. Secretary, MCA.
The Chess Championship is being conducted to select the Maharashtra Chess players for representing Maharashtra in the National Under-9 Chess Championship to be held later this year. The tournament was also inaugurated with playing moves on Chess Board by GM Sankalp Gupta and Dr. Mrunal Naik, Project Head, Raisoni Group.
The Championship has attracted 110 players in open group and 56 in girls group. Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur and Chief Arbiter IA Deepak Chavan were also present during the opening ceremony. Shri S.S.Soman compered the program and also proposed vote of thanks. The tournament is being played in 8 rounds followed by Prize Distribution function on 7th May 2023.
IA Deepak Chavan is the Chief Arbiter assisted by Dy Chief Arbiter FA Shiva Iyer, FA Swati Kumbhalkar, FA Amit Tembhurne, SNA Sagar Sakhare, SNA Prayas Ambade, Prathamesh Machave and Shirshir Indurkar.
