Skywalk and lift at Shri Renuka Mandir, Mahur

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari performed bhoomipujan of the skywalk lift at Shri Renuka Mata Mandir Mahur, to facilitate the visit of the devotees. The devotees are required to climb about 240 steps to reach the temple, which is one among three-and-a-half Shaktipeeth.

The skywalk lift will be constructed by spending Rs 51 crores. Four lifts of a capacity of 20 people each will be made available from the base of the hillock to the temple site. Mahur is an important religious place for the devotees in the Washim district. Washrooms for men and women, watch galleries, waiting rooms, security personnel, a stand for footwear, separate arrangements for the senior and the handicapped, steel railing etc will also be provided.

Besides the lift a 70 metre long and 15 metre broad skywalk are being constructed. Space for shops on both sides will also be provided.

The project will be completed within 18 months, Gadkari announced. Arrangements for CCTV, electrification, fire services, water storage tank, wastewater treatment plant, solar system, and generators will also be provided. The development will promote tourism in the area and would generate employment for local people.

A new 157.22 Km long road development project worth Rs 1765 crore for the Washim district was also announced on the occasion.
