Renowned Indian off-spinner R Ashwin is poised to lead the helm at the Chennai Super Kings High Performance Centre, signaling a potential return to the franchise that propelled him into national stardom.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed Ashwin’s appointment, stating that the cricketer will oversee the center along with the team’s academies across India and abroad.
“Ashwin’s stature as one of India’s and Tamil Nadu’s cricketing legends will significantly bolster the high-performance center and our academies,” Viswanathan remarked.
Situated on the outskirts of Chennai, the center is set to benefit from Ashwin’s wealth of experience and expertise.
The 37-year-old, who recently joined the elite ranks as the second Indian bowler to claim 500 Test wickets after Anil Kumble, first gained prominence with CSK, where he played from 2008 to 2015.
With the impending mega auction looming, Ashwin’s return to the market could align with CSK’s strategy, with the franchise eager to potentially secure his services once again. Notably, Ashwin represented the Rajasthan Royals in the previous IPL season.
