Malpractices in institutional quota admission
An enquiry against nine medical colleges has been ordered by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research and AYUSH related to malpractices in institutional admissions. The enquiry is based on complaints received against the private medical colleges receiving grants.
The complaints are based on the denial of admission against 15 per cent of Institutional admission quota seats. The fees for these seats are fixed before the beginning of the admissions through CET. These institutions have mentioned fees which are three times the fees finalised by the appropriate authority.
Some seats under the institutional quota are still vacant. The complainant students stated that they were denied admission by these institutions. The ICMR has directed the enquiry officers to submit the report within 15 days.
The colleges under the scanner are –Terna Medical College, Mumbai; Dr N Y Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Karjat; Smt Kashibai Navle College, Pune; MIMER Medical College, Talegaon-Dabhade; Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpai Medical College, Pune; Ashvini Medical College, Solapur; Prakash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Sangli; and MIMSR Medical College, Latur.
