The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Nagpur, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, launched its voter awareness campaign today, 11th November 2024, at the District Collectorate in Civil Lines, Nagpur. This initiative is part of the State-Level Voter Awareness Program organized by the Chief Electoral Office under SVEEP, in preparation for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections 2024. The campaign is a collaborative effort between the Central Bureau of Communication, the Chief Electoral Office of Maharashtra, and the Nagpur District administration.
Today, Nagpur District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar and Nagpur Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni inaugurated the campaign by flagging off the mobile exhibition van in the presence of other officials. The van will visit various constituencies across Nagpur District to promote voter awareness.
During the inauguration, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar stated, “The publicity van is an excellent medium to spread awareness among voters. We have mapped a route for the van to visit specific booths where voter turnout was lower in the last elections. Equipped with audio-visual publicity content, the van aims to encourage voters to participate actively in the polls scheduled for 20th November. Our goal is to achieve a voting turnout of over 75% and bring distinction to the Nagpur district.”
Nagpur Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni emphasized the initiative’s importance, saying, “This van, equipped with comprehensive audio-visual content related to voter awareness, is a vital step towards fostering a voting culture among citizens. Targeting polling booths with historically low turnout, we hope to make a lasting impact on voters and significantly increase voter participation.”
The inaugural event featured cultural performance by song and drama artists registered with the Central Bureau of Communication, enhancing the campaign’s reach and impact.
Supported by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office and various district administrations, this campaign will continue until 20th November 2024, aiming to ensure record voter participation in the upcoming state elections.
