Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved the second link taxi-way at Mihan. He has agreed to give assistance of Rs 100 crore. According to sources, this decision has been taken during the meeting called by Fadnavis on Saturday. This is another major development after Fadnavis asked MADC to hand over 786 hectares of land to Mihan India Limited.
This was the first meeting regarding airport development chaired by Devendra Fadnavis after becoming the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. According to sources, Swati Pandey, Vice President and Managing Director of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), had demanded to use 500 acres of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) land at Mihan for commercial purpose related to aviation activities.
Indamer Aviation Pvt Ltd, Dassault and Air India MRO have taken full access to the existing link. These MROs can use this additional land. Fadnavis believed that the state should support this project financially and after that he promised to give a total of Rs 200 crore.
This step is being taken to promote the MRO industry in line with the new MRO policy of the Government of India. The MRO has taken up space on land already sold, so MADC cannot build any aviation facility there.
MADC will create all aviation facilities on 500 acres of land. MADC has planned to create all kinds of infrastructure. This will boost the industry of Nagpur. GMR Airports Limited is already constructing the second runway.
A partial portion of 1,270 m length of the second taxi track has already been constructed by MIL to provide connectivity to Air India MRO. It is proposed to construct a full parallel taxi track of 3200 metres by constructing the remaining portion of 535 metres length on the north-west side and 1,395 metres length on the south-east side.
