Yavatmal: In a remarkable display of courage and determination, 18-year-old Shourya Bajaj from Yavatmal has made history as the youngest woman to summit Mt. Kiager Ri (6,176 meters) in Ladakh during the harsh winter season.
The expedition, organized by White Expedition and led by renowned mountaineer Ricky, was completed in extreme conditions, with temperatures plunging to -37°C and relentless icy winds testing the team’s endurance.
Shourya’s achievement is being celebrated as a testament to her exceptional physical fitness, mental resilience, and determination. “Her mental strength and physical preparedness were outstanding. Even in the harshest conditions, she showed extraordinary grit and positivity,” said expedition leader Ricky.
The climb was fraught with challenges, including treacherous terrain and unpredictable high-altitude winter weather. Despite these obstacles, Shourya displayed remarkable composure and skill, solidifying her place in mountaineering history.
Shourya, the daughter of businessman Govind Bajaj and Shilpi Bajaj, has become a source of pride and inspiration for her hometown and beyond.
