The grand ‘Vidarbha Vigyan Utsav’, a joint initiative by VIBHA – Vidhyan Bharti Vidarbha Mandal, IQAC of L.A.D. and Smt. R. P. College for Women, and RTM Nagpur University, was inaugurated on 3rd January 2025 at the Shankar Nagar Campus of L.A.D. College.
The event was graced by eminent dignitaries including Dr.Prashant Bokare, Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU; Dr. AtulVaidya, Vice-Chancellor of Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU), Nagpur; and Shri RavleenSingh Khurana, CEO of Nitika Pharmaceuticals. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Dr. Satish Wate, President of VIBHA Vidarbha, and Dr. Avinash Deshmukh, Vice-President of WES.
Mr. Ravleen Khurana encouraged students to harness originality, creativity, and innovation to transform India into a global leader (Vishwaguru) and highlighted India’s significant prominence in the global pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Satish Wate described students, schools, and colleges as key assets for India’s development, highlighting the importance of scientific approach for progress.
Mr. Atul Vaidya delivered the keynote address, emphasizing that science is an inseparable and omnipresent part of human life. He stressed the importance of applying science for societal welfare and highlighted the need for a practical approach to science and technology to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
The dais was shared by Shri Naresh Chafekar, Executive Member VIBHA, Shri. Rajesh Karemore, Convenor; Dr.Rijuta Bapat, Off. Principal of L.A.D. College; and Mrs. Vaishali Gade.
Prominent attendees from L.A.D College were Dr. Nanda Rathi; Dr. Harsha Jharia, Dr. A. Masram, and Dr. SumitaSapre.
Event Highlights:
The inaugural ceremony featured the opening of a Vidarbha-Level Science Model Competition-cum-Exhibition, along with complementary events such as:
• Science Poster Competition
• Science Rangoli Competition
• AI Model Exhibition
• Gallery of Eminent Indian Women Scientists
All competitions revolved around the theme “Science and its Application in Agriculture, Environment, and Healthcare”.
The Science Model Competition showcased 66 models, both working and non-working, created by students from Classes VIII to XI who had advanced from district-level competitions held in December 2024 across Vidarbha’s 11 districts. Other highlights included 60 science posters and 50 rangolis from schools and colleges across Nagpur, as well as 22 selected posters from earlier district-level rounds.
Special Arrangements: VIBHA ensured smooth logistics for participants, including commutation, lodging, and boarding for students, teachers, and parents from all 11 districts.
The program was compered by Ms.Anita Yemde and the formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Prakash Itankar.
Prize Distribution Ceremony: The prize distribution ceremony will take place during the valedictory functionscheduled for January 4, 2025, at 3 p.m., in the Justice Bhavani Shankar Niyogi Hall, L.A.D. College, Shankar Nagar. Dr. Preem Lal Patel, Director of VNIT, Dr. Prashant Joshi, Director AIIMS and Dr. Rajendra Kakde, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU, will grace the occasion as Chief Guests.
